Still Waters

He leads me beside still waters…  I don’t know about you, but I love still waters.  The beautiful reflection of all my surroundings gives a new and different perspective of what others see.  Still waters induce peace, tranquility, and comfort to the beholder.  Still waters can encourage hearing a Still Small Voice.  The Lord speaks to us in our quiet moments.

Leaving the bustle and urgency of our demanding life is a learned behavior.  It is not natural.  It is intentional—just like stopping everything you’re doing when you unexpectedly see an old friend and just share some time together.  Your whole attention suddenly becomes focused on them and you take pleasure in the lovely time of their company.

The Lord says He is with us and in us.  He wants to spend time with us and let us “catch up” on His plans and direction for us—and to remind us of His love for us.  But we seldom notice or even recognize this Presence.  We seldom stop to gain His perspective—living by faith, not by sight.

Still waters…beautiful, calming, comforting—I wouldn’t miss them for anything.

Psalm 23:2-3   “He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul.”
